Why Did We Make a Brand Called Suicide Sucks?

Because nothing else seems to describe it any better!

We're survivors, and we're tired of the blows that continue to come with each new suicide. So we're committed to doing all we can to grow from our experience, to turn our pain into purpose.

We don't have a pledge, or a mantra, or a catchy slogan. We have one goal, and that is to live our lives in a way that everyone around us knows their worth.

To accomplish that goal, Suicide Sucks is focused on empowering you, our fellow survivor, in turning your pain into purpose. While the pain of our losses continues to sting, we'll stay focused on learning more about mental health, suicidality, identifying the signs, having meaningful conversations, and connecting our loved ones with the best resources to support them.

Why T Shirts?

Since 2015 when we launched this initiative, people have been telling us their stories about wearing this shirt around.

The stories have been amazing! When people wear this shirt, it shocks people. It surprises people. It creates curiosity that often leads to a conversation. And conversation leads to connection, understanding, and empathy. It's the most beautiful thing.

In addition to spreading the word that every human life matters, wearing the Suicide Sucks shirt serves as a physical reminder to survivors like us that we are not alone. One of the best and worst feelings is to catch one of these shirts in the wild. At first it's, "Hey look, that's cool!" And the next thought is, "dang, they must be really hurting from the loss of someone they love."

At Suicide Sucks we have personal experience with the devastation that suicide causes survivors. The ripples of pain from each suicide carry on in all directions, forever.

We also know that suicide is preventable, and we believe that each of us have the power to do our part in our circle of influence. Together, we can take the first step to support others by letting them know we're here, we care, and they can trust us with their pain.

Please join us in turning our pain, into purpose.

Much Love,
